Calthorpe Estates Appoint New Development Director
Property development and investment company Calthorpe Estates has strengthened their team with the appointment of Malcolm Tyre as Director of Development.
Malcolm was previously Senior Development Surveyor at Gloucestershire-based Robert Hitchins Ltd and will oversee the development of Edgbaston Mill, the £100 million mixed-use scheme opposite Edgbaston Cricket Ground, together with the prestigious £90 million University Science Park, Pebble Mill - one of the most significant investments into Birmingham’s rapidly developing knowledge economy.
He brings with him vast experience in commercial property and construction, with over 30 years specialising in business parks and office developments. Most recently he was instrumental in securing a 225,000 sq ft pre-let to the European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company for its new £50 million pound headquarter offices in Newport, South Wales.
Malcolm Tyre said: “The opportunity to help transform a significant part of the west end of Birmingham was a key reason for joining Calthorpe Estates. There is an impressive and diverse range of large scale developments within their regeneration portfolio which I’m looking forward to help progress.
“There is a real buzz about Birmingham and Calthorpe Estates is contributing to that.”
David Povall, Commercial Director of Calthorpe Estates, said: “We are thrilled to have Malcolm on board. He is joining us at a significant time in the evolution of Edgbaston, with many of our developments due to make considerable and visible progress in the next few months. Malcolm is well-known within the industry and has vast knowledge and skills which will help to drive our vision forward.”
